What is Community Supported Agriculture?

CSA is about us, your local farmer, growing the freshest possible food, full of nutrition and taste, for you and your family.

It is about you knowing who grew your food and having the opportunity to talk to us every week after we have picked the produce for you.

CSA is about naturally grown food, without pesticide and herbicide residues, without waxes to make them shiny and all the other practices in many grocery stores.

It is about the community supporting and sustaining local agriculture, keeping money in the local economy and leaving a low carbon footprint, unlike conventional food distribution where items are trucked thousands of miles around the continent.

Imagine walking out in your extensive vegetable garden on a beautiful summer morning.  You check the cucumbers, look over the beans, pluck a ripe, juicy raspberry and pop it in your mouth as you continue on your way.  After your long walk, you return to the house and gather up containers to go and harvest everything that is ready for picking.  You return to your kitchen with a bounty of luscious vegetables, ready for cleaning, sorting and storing!  Now imagine that we did all the work and you just had to come pick up a basket of assorted vegetables!  That is what CSA is all about!

  • Full Share: $400. (Family of 4)

  • Home Delivery: $50 extra within Brandon.

We plant, grow, tend and pick a wide variety of seasonal garden produce for you, the CSA member.  We meet CSA members once a week at a central location to deliver the weekly picking.  Members are encouraged to bring boxes or re-usable bags to pick up their veggies.  What is offered is what is ready for picking that day. We do our best to build in some choice each week, there is always a trading table at the pick up site so that you can trade something you might not use.

Can’t make the pick-up? Have someone else pick it up for you. Your weekly share can be a gift to someone you think would enjoy the experience of CSA, or perhaps you are away and someone is house sitting.  Just let us know so that we will have contact info – in case they forget to pick up.

Aagaard Farms is proud to be working with Samaritan House in Brandon.  You can sponsor a family from Samaritan House at a reduced rate; Aagaard Farms will donate the balance.  You can make a big difference in the health of a struggling family by helping to supply them with fresh vegetables throughout the summer.   This is a charitable donation and you will receive a tax receipt!  What a great way to put your charitable donations to work right in your community!

CSA is sold out for the 2012 season!
